I have setup an free dns account with "change ip " but whenever the ip address changes I can no longer use the NetAv feature.
I setup my changeip user id and password in the Netav settings and it updates ok, but whenever the ip changes it doesn't work anymore.
Please help |

hi adam.
I wont be able to try this myself until monday, but have you tried this :
user and password fields -> duh.
url to update:
http://www.changeip.com/update.asp?u=YOUR_USERNAME&p=YOUR_PASSWD&hostname=HOSTNAME&offline=0
where you replace YOUR_USERNAME and YOUR_PASSWORD with, well, your user name and password. There should be no spaces. you will have to press SHIFT on teh soft keyboard to type ? and &
HOSTNAME should be your chosen free name, something like adam.changeip.org
if you type the correct URL in a web browser first, you should get a "successful update" message.
URL to detect:
http://ip.changeip.com/
let me know how it went. deurbel123 ...[at]... hotmail |

Hello,
Is the light on the front of the lftv base unit green or red? If it is green it should be updating, if its red there was an error, and if its off then I believe NetAv might be turned off. You can always email support your userID and we can determine if the base unit is communicating with the service or not.

The username and password fields should not be entered on the update command line, this causes them to be sent in clear text across the internet. It will work, and if you don't mind you can do this, but it is not recommended. The username and password are normally sent base64 encoded as part of the basic authentication process the lftv does upon ddns updates.
If your still having update troubles can you tell me what the update url string is currently?
Thanks,
Sam |
