 Post subject: collecting the current IP from a router

I'm wondering if there's a client out there that would collect a person's current IP from a router status page. Rather then it venturing out onto the net to get the current IP. This has the obvious benefits of speed and less bandwidth consumption, not to mention fewer requests on the IP detectors.
