I have two accounts with changeip. Let's call them domain1.org and domain2.org. doman1.org was registered with Aplus and I have the dns records pointing to changeip's name servers. I also have SMTP forwarding and backup for domain1 with changeip. Aplus does not allow MX,A, or C record manipulation as far as I can tell.
domain2.org has it's dns records with Network Solutions. I also have a smtp forwarding and backup account with changeip for that domain. Network Solutions allows MX record manipulation and smtp.changeip.com is the secondary server in the MX records for that domain. So if the primary server dies, changeip will store my emails for 5 days and so on.
Now my question is, if domain2.org goes down can I change it's primary MX record to point to domain1? Can I use domain1 as a 'backup' mail server for domain2 if need be? The point being that users of domain2 can actually log in to domain1 and check their email while their server is down.
Hope that makes sense.
