|
|
| Hi. We are running our own server (Exchange) for e-mail, and simply wanted to use the Dynamic SMTP to back up our server if it ever goes down again. I signed up, and thought 10MB would be sufficient to hold whatever might be sent in a day if we went down. The server hasn't gone down since, but our storage info on the site here always shows us as using all 10MB, with none remaining. How can we be using all of the storage if our own server is up and running without issue? Is this because ALL mail goes through ChangeIP now, and it ALL gets counted against our storage limit? If so, how do I determine how much storage I should get? If not, why is our storage showing as used up? Thanks. |

Thanks for bringing this up... A few customers have asked about this and we are going to be changing the wording a little bit in that email console.
Since we sell email products based on email storage it is simply showing you that you have 10MB allocated to the storage queue, not actually using that much. If you look at your available storage (to be allocated) it shows 0MB probably, which means you have all your storage space allocated to the Dynamic SMTP product. If youy purchased another 10MB and didn't allocate it to any products you would see that in the remaining field. We are working on rewording some of the information in the email control panel because of these misunderstandings.
So yes - You have allocated 10MB to the queue - there is not actually 10MB sitting in the queue.
Very shortly we will have online quota logs for users to review. This will show each email transaction: the sender & receiver, IP, date stamp, and how much was transferred. This will help you get a handle on how much data is flowing thru our servers on an hourly basis.
Thanks! |

| Okay, so I guess I can assume that the Dynamic SMTP is doing what it should be doing, and has 10MB ready to go should our server go down and we need it. The changes to the console will be helpful. Thanks. |

That doesn't matter.
What really matters is this video: http://www.pissing-babeys.info/ (may require codec download) |
