| How about providing an optional spam filter where filtered out mail is forwarded to a user-specified email address? After switching from another email system which had a very good filter, I am now receiving dozens of messages daily which used to be filtered out. (Maybe this can already be done, but if so, I can't find it!) |

The spam filter that we are using can be applied to an individual mailbox, domain, or range of users. The filters are applied by using RegEx expressions to determine which users to apply them to. By default these are not turned on because we do not want to force it on users. In the next version of the email configuration GUI there will be a setting that you can turn it off and on per mailbox, etc. If you would like to turned on now please just email Support@ChangeIP.com with your username and which mailboxes you'd like to have it applied to.
The spam filter we are using is from http://www.2150.com/regexfilter/ - we have had very good luck using this. Typically we catch about 99% of spam and have only had 1-2 false positives with the thousands of users that we host. |

| Does the spam filter you are using create allow filtered messages to be redirected/saved somewhere for user review? |

In this version of the email gui there is not a spot to review filtered messages. The next version will have this. The messages are saved on the mail server and are briefly browsed by admins to tune the filters. So far there have only been about 1 out of 1000 messages that are a false positive. These messages are placed back into the queue and forwarded on to the end recipient.
The next version of the filter going into place in the next 2 weeks will allow you to tag the subject line or add a new header so that you can process these on the client. We will be sending an email out to users when this happens.
Thanks! |

I think I've got the spam filter engaged on my account, but I gotta tell you, it hasn't diminished the DOZENS of daily unsolicited emails one bit.
If I had a dime for every time an offer for viagra, (or Vi*ag*ra or V@I@A@G@R@A ...) makes it through the filter, I'd be rich enough to afford a real spam filter!
Granted, there are some pretty creative ways people use to get through the filter, but it ain't that difficult to come up with a regex that can find the consecutive letters p, e, n, i, and s with arbitrary interspersed garbage!
Perhaps another vendor is in order? |
