Howdy,

I'm about to register for a domain name (i.e. mydomain.org) and a DDNS. My ISP is Verizon FIOS. The ISP Internet connection is via a 802.11g wireless router. ISP use Dynamic PPPoe. I will only have one IP address from ISP (router).

I have a PC (running XP) and a 802.11g wireless camera (with built in web server/video interface) connected to the wireless router.

Will I be able to set this up in a way so that web.mydomain.org will go to my PC's web server and camera.mydomain.org goes to the camera's web/video ?

Can I do this with just one domain name and one DDNS ?

Please advise. What will I need to do ?

Thank you.

aswin,
Most newer routers have port forwading options. This is what you would have to do in order to access multiple internal devices on the same IP address. Configure your PC (web) to use port 80, and the camera to use another (logical would be 81). The just configure traffic on port 80 to be directed to your PC (ex: 192.168.0.1) and all traffic on port 81 to be routed to the camera (ex: 192.168.0.2). At this point, you simply can NOT use "camera.domain.com". You would have to use "domain.com:81" to access the camera. In order for "camera.domain.com" to function, the easiest way is to use ChangeIP's dynamic DNS. You would create a secondary hostname and rather than entering an IP address, you can put in a URL (domin.com:81).
I do exactly this and have no issues. If you need additional help or don't quite understand what I'm saying, just let me know and I'd be more than willing to help.
Good luck,
Keith
