Hello -

I have not had a response when emailing change ip support, so I assume that there is some problem. I hope someone here can help me :)

We host a web site here on a Macintosh computer using File Maker pro. We have dDNS and use the update client - Homing Beacon - on a PC in the same office. The Hostname configuration catalog.bigbandcdstore.com does not automatically change to the ftp.bigbandcdstore.com WHEN the homing beacon updates. I have to manually update at my account area at Change IP.com.

I was under the impression that by having the dDNS and by using Homing Beacon, that I wouldn't have to manually change anything & the site would redirect itself. I.E. THERE WOULD NOT BE any down time.

I may not have checked the off the correct areas in the “Hostname Configuration” area at ChangeIP.com (such as #1, #2, Dir? Etc.)

and/or

I may not have the correct “Set or Host” name for Homing Beacon.

I am not very knowledgeable about this stuff. I have read through the forums but I cannot figure out precisely what I need to do. Do you have any advice for me? Pleeease.

I told my boss the dDNS service would fix our down time problems, but we still have downtime when I have to manually change the catalog and ftp configurations redirects.

We currently have one domain name: Bigbandcdstore.com
and the following hostnames:
root of bigbandcdstore.com (A)
catalog.bigbandcdstore.com (URL)
ftp.bigbandcdstore.com (A)
www.bigbandcdstore.com (A)

Thank you!!

Some god at changeip.com replied to me and fixed my hostname config's which were totally messed up. I would have never figured it out on my own.

My IP changed yesterday and everything updated automatically - NO MORE DOWNTIME!!!

Total I/O problem (idiot operator). I may be a ninny, but I needed support and thankfully I got it.

Thanks again ChangeIP
Signed, bbcds
