Hi,

My company has 2 internet lines and a single mail server. Currently the one line is down and I'd like to create a second MX record to point to the fixed IP of the second line to ensure uptime of the mail server.

Will incoming mail try the first IP then if there is no resolution on that line (like when the line is down), try to resolve to the second IP?

The MX records are supposed to work that way, but sometimes (most of the time actually) spammer software will work from top down - so your backup MXs get more spam than the primary.
