I was wondering whether any NetAV users have got together to share access to their base stations? Instead of accessing your own TV channels while you are away from home, you could be using NetAV to watch TV from an overseas NetAV user's base station or from a NetAV user who has that TV channel that your own cable provider doesn't offer.

I have an LF-X5. Is there a limit to the monitors (eg. tablets, Locationfree for PC's, PSP's) that can be bound to a base station?

What risks would be exposed if you allowed other users to access your base station? Can you limit the functions another user can perform on your base station?

Hey,
Sounds like a cool idea but there are some risks to it.
#1 is that if you share your access, than someone can use it 24/7 and therefore lock you out when you want to use it, because Locationfree allows only one user at a time. Unless you over-ride it when setting it all up.
#2 legal consequences; I am sure if this \"sharing\" picked up among users your cable/TV provider would not like it at all.
#3 I cannot remember, but binding someone's monitor to a Base needs a certain procedure, but I guess it is doable over the net.
You can register up to 4 Locationfree devices to one Base. As far as limiting functions for other users, it is possible too I believe.
Would be fun to try it out especially watching foreign content! Great idea, boomerT!

I thought about this as well... the fact that only 1 person can watch at a time gets you around the legal restrictions I believe. You do need to register with each base station, and its only allowed 4-5 I believe. We were writing an application that would log into a 'public' base station, and grab a password, expire the old ones, etc and then allow a certain time period of watching... sort of a portal for public base stations. Once the product gets more popular we may finish this - its a cool idea thats for sure.
